One of the first lesson plans I ever prepared was an assignment for this class. I prepared a weekly lesson plan meant for an eighth-grade English class. The chosen Unit Theme was: 8.1 Analyzing Character’s Decisions. The desired results were to have the students develop and strengthen their writing as needed by planning, drafting, revising, editing, rewriting, and publishing. It was quite complicated for me to develop at first, as I barely understood some of the content that was supposed to be included in it. Also, I did not know how to properly navigate or decipher the curricular maps and other documents provided by the Department of Education of Puerto Rico, which were necessary to complete this assignment. Nevertheless, I was able to complete it, and I acquired a lot of valuable information and skills that I continue to use to this day when I have to create lesson plans for other courses.
